Charges are pending against a suspected gunman who is in custody after allegedly firing shots that prompted a chase and led police to fire their weapons at him on the South Side this afternoon, police said.
Officers in the area of the 3400 block of South Indiana Avenue saw the male, whose age was not available, firing shots about 12:50 p.m. and when they tried to apprehend him, he fled on foot, said police News Affairs Officer Daniel O’Brien.
During a foot chase officers fired shots but no one was hit, O’Brien said.
The male suspect was taken into custody and charges are pending, said O’Brien.
The incident occurred about two blocks from Chicago Police Headquarters on the 3500 block of South Michigan Avenue.
