On Sunday night, uniformed officers from the Englewood District responded to a shots fired call and saw at least one person among a group of four or five shooting at a house, authorities said, citing preliminary information.
Pat Camden, a spokesman for the Fraternal Order of Police, said three gunmen were shooting at the house. The officers approached the group and announced their office, authorities said. One of the three turned and pointed his gun at police, and an officer opened fire, hitting him in the leg, Camden said.
The wounded suspect, a 27-year-old man, then tried to elude the police on foot, but was apprehended a short time later near 58th Street and Winchester Avenue, authorities said. He was taken to Stroger Hospital with at least one gunshot wound and a gun was recovered, authorities said.
A second of the three was also arrested, Camden said, and a weapon recovered from him too. A third person remains at large, he said.
Meanwhile, Chicago police Sunday night shot another person who pointed a gun at them near 82nd Street and Drexel Avenue, authorities said.
