John Wayne Gacy’s nephew tearfully declared his innocence before a judge in McHenry County today before he was sentenced to 24 years in prison for the sexual assault of a 12-year-old girl.
A jury convicted Raymond Kasper, 49, in the assault in July, even though the girl denied that the crime had taken place when she took the stand at his trial.
Prosecutors charge that Kasper, of Marengo, assaulted the girl in her Algonquin home last year between June and October.
While reading a letter to the court before his sentencing, Kasper never mentioned the name of his notorious uncle, who was executed in 1994 for the murders of 33 young men and boys, many of whom were found in his suburban home near Chicago’s Northwest Side. But Kasper said he felt he was convicted because of who he was related to.
