The entire police force of Minneapolis and St. Paul has been placed on high alert due to a death threat they received in the wake of a gang-related shooting.

The officers received the threat after St. Paul police fatally shot Victor Gaddy, a drug suspect, after he crashed into their squad cars, WCCO-TV reported.

Minneapolis police had asked St. Paul cops to pull the 41-year-old over
.

“As a police officer, I know that you get these threats individually from people all of the time …” St. Paul City Council member and retired police officer Dan Bostrom told WCCO-TV.

“But when it’s a general threat to the entire law enforcement community you have to take that seriously because every single officer now and every single squad car is a target.”

The two police departments are working with other law enforcement agencies to identify the source of the threats.

Sgt. Stephen McCarthy added that his team will be on the lookout for fake 911 calls and other suspicious activity.
