Subway Restaurant worker throws pot of boiling hot soup on would-be robber in ghost mask

A Subway sandwich worker hurled a pot of soup at a would-be armed robber wearing a ghost mask in Braidwood before chasing him away.

Braidwood Police Chief Rich Girot said it was 6:45 p.m. Friday when an employee leaving the Subway at 290 S. Front St. was forced back inside by the masked bandit.

“He pushed her down to the floor and kept yelling to open the register,” Girot said. “A male employee threw a pot of soup at the suspect and they scuffled until [the robber] ran out to a black compact car.”
The employees were not injured but the woman was “shaken up” and taken to the hospital for examination.
The suspect is a white man, 6-feet tall and about 250 pounds.

Besides the ghost mask he was wearing a white sweatshirt and black jeans. Police said a woman was driving the get-away car.

Girot said police were reviewing footage from security cameras Friday night. Anyone with information is asked to call 815-458-2342. Especially if they know a man who smells like Green Pea Soup.
