7 shot, 1 dead in shootings across Chicago overnight - The inner city folks never let you down...
Seven people were shot and one died in shootings in the city from Saturday afternoon to Sunday morning, including three different incidents on Morgan Street on the South Side.
The one death was one of those shootings on Morgan Street. It occurred about 5:22 a.m. today at 35th and Morgan in the Bridgeport neighborhood. Two males were shot, Chicago Police Department News Affairs Officer Robert Perez said; one was dead at the scene and the other, shot in the buttocks, was taken to an area hospital.
Additional details about the shooting were not available.
About 7:35 p.m. Saturday in the 6200 block of South Morgan in the Englewood neighborhood, a 48-year-old was shot during an armed robbery, News Affairs Officer Joshua Purkiss said. The victim was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in serious-to-critical condition with a gunshot wound to the back, according to the Chicago Fire Department. The shooter, described as a man in his 20s, entered a store, displayed a gun and demanded cash. It's unclear if he fled the store with any proceeds from the robbery.
