An Ohio man with a checkered criminal background has been charged with killing a former Kankakee County prosecutor and his roommate last month, then using their credit cards to go on a spending spree in Las Vegas, Chicago police said this morning.

Chicago police detectives arrested Dejuan Pratt as he arrived to O'Hare International Airport on Monday, authorities said. Pratt was charged late Tuesday with first-degree murder, armed robbery and unlawful possession of a credit card in the Aug. 28 slayings of Gary Brown, 64, and Chun Xiao Lee, 48, according to police.

He was also charged with aggravated identity theft, identity theft between $2,000 and $10,000, possession of a stolen motor vehicle and aggravated arson. Pratt is from Columbus, Ohio, but had once lived in the same apartment as Brown and Lee in the 6400 block of North Sacramento Avenue.
