Rahm Emanuel's Chicago Values: Man beated, robbed and then ran over and killed by car as he attempted to flee his attackers

A man in his 30s who was robbed in Little Village early Sunday morning died after he was hit by a car following the attack, authorities said.

Police are investigating whether the robbers – four or five men in a white Ford Taurus – ran him down and hit him. The car that hit the man and the car carrying the robbers – which may be the same car – left the scene.

The dead man and his 27-year-old friend were in the 2700 block of South Kedvale Avenue when the group of men in the Taurus announced a robbery, Chicago Police Department News Affairs Officer Robert Perez said. It's not clear if a weapon was displayed or if the attackers implied they had a weapon.

The two victims split up and one was hit by a car shortly after the robbery, Perez said. Because the car that hit the man is gone, police aren't sure whether it's the same one that carried the robbers.
