Yet another Chicago police shooting this weekend. This time in the 6th Police District - Gresham neighborhood

CHICAGO, IL - A 17-year-old boy was hospitalized after being shot by police in the Gresham neighborhood on the South Side tonight, officials said.

The incident happened at 8:43 p.m. on the 7700 block of South Winchester Avenue, said Chicago Fire Department spokesman Sean Flynn.

The teen was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center where his condition had stabilized.

A police department source said the teen was among a group of people standing near the corner of 77th Street and Wolcott Avenue, near a shrine for someone who had died, when officers approached and the teen took off running.

One officer gave chase and the teen turned with a weapon in his hand, police said. The officer opened fire, hitting the teen in his buttocks.
