Fraternal Order of Police Chicago Lodge #7 Update

BY-LAW Proposal Update A by-law proposal was properly submitted to the Lodge that would have prevented retired members from holding office on the FOP Board of Directors. The Constitution and By-laws Committee advised the Board of Directors that the proposal had to be put to the membership for a vote per our current Constitution and By-Laws. The Committee also suggested to the Board that a recommendation should be made that voters reject this by-law change. The Board of Directors unanimously accepted the Committee's recommendations and set a date for a voice vote at the September 18th General Meeting. The first order of business at the September General Meeting was a presentation of the proposed by-law change. The proposed change was immediately voted on. The appoximately 600 members in attendance unanimously voted to reject the proposed by-law change. Retired members will retain the rights that they have always enjoyed.
