Temperatures as low as 42 below zero have been reported in the Northland so far this morning.

Embarrass was the early leader for coldest spot in the region today, at 42 below, with temperatures still falling in some areas before sunrise. Other lows through 6:30 a.m., as reported by the National Weather Service, included:

36 below zero - International Falls, Cook, Crane Lake

35 below - Ely, Orr

33 below - Bigfork

29 below - Eveleth

28 below - Hibbing

26 below - Silver Bay

24 below - Grand Marais airport, Grand Rapids

22 below - Two Harbors

21 below - Duluth airport, Hayward

20 below - Longville

18 below - Cloquet

17 below - Ashland, Aitkin, Moose Lake, Pine River, Superior

15 below - Phillips. McGregor

13 below - Grand Marais harbor, Hinckley, Siren

11 below - Duluth harbor

Wind chills as low as 50 below zero were reported at the Grand Marais airport this morning. Other wind chill reports included 44 below zero at Cotton, 41 below at Palmers on the North Shore, 40 below at Grand Portage, 37 below at Hibbing and 33 below at Duluth.
