A man was killed and two others wounded in a pair of West Side shootings on Wednesday night, police said.
The first man, 35, was shot shortly after 6 p.m. on the 1000 block of North Avers Avenue in the Humboldt Park neighborhood, said Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Daniel O’Brien.
Two men got out of a tan minivan and one opened fire, hitting the man at least five times, police said, hitting Elton Johnson.
Johnson was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital for treatment, authorities said. He was pronounced dead at 10:17 p.m., a spokesman for the Cook County medical examiner's office said.
No one is in custody.
