A woman who awoke to the sounds of a car crashing into her apartment building said a prominent South Florida rapper was one of two people inside the vehicle that had been targeted by gunfire.
Beth Balk, a waitress at the nearby Floridian Restaurant, said she was asleep when she heard the crash, saw a 2011 silver Rolls Royce up against her building and looked outside to see a man in a red shirt and a woman who appeared to be stunned.
Balk was shown a picture of music star Rick Ross and said, "Yes, that's definitely the guy."
Police identifed the victims as William L. Roberts, 37, and Shateria L. Moragne-el, 28, both of Davie.
Rick Ross is Roberts' stage name.
