A Maywood police officer has been charged with sexually assaulting a woman he encountered while on patrol, DuPage County prosecutors said Friday.
Deon Sams, 38, of Bolingbrook, is accused of assaulting the woman in March at a hotel room in Villa Park. Sam appeared Friday in bond court, where Judge Thomas Else set his bail at $200,000.
Sams is facing two counts of criminal sexual assault and one count of official misconduct, authorities said.
According to prosecutors, Sams was on patrol in his Maywood police car in the early-morning hours of March 24 when he saw a woman walking along a village street.
