Chicago Cops: Masked armed black males robbers targeting South Side cell phone stores


Masked bandits have robbed four South Side cell phone retailers in recent weeks, prompting the Chicago Police Department to issue a warning to businesses late Sunday.

The robberies happened Nov. 21 in the 11300 block of South Michigan Avenue; Dec. 6 in the 8500 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue; Dec. 10 in the 4700 block of South Ashland Avenue and Dec. 13 in the 6600 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue.

Police describe the assailants as males between the ages of 17 and 25, 5’9’’- 6’0’’, weighing between 160 and 200 pounds.

In the four reported incidents, two to four robbers have showed up at cell phone stores between 1 p.m. and 6 p.m., displaying a revolver and demanding cash from the store’s register, police said.
