Fine Honor Student Demarquez Nelson (19) charged with the shooting next to Chicago Police Headquarters...He was just turning his life around....

A 19-year-old man will appear in court today, charged with opening fire at a car blocks from Chicago police headquarters as a carload of officers watched, officials said.
Demarquez Nelson, of the 1500 block of South Keeler Avenue, stepped into the street in the 3400 block of South Indiana Avenue about 12:50 p.m. Tuesday and started shooting, police said. Police headquarters is a block west and a block south.
Sgt. Ed Beltran, his supervisor and another officer were in an unmarked vehicle down the street. “We’re in the intersection and we see him shooting,’’ said Beltran, who was driving the police car.
