Cops respond to brazen daylight shooting, We were in shock - EVEN FOR A BLACK SHOOTER TO THIS BY POLICE HEADQUARTERS!


A 19-year-old gunman was in the wrong place at the wrong time when he allegedly opened fire at a vehicle in traffic several cars ahead of an unmarked police vehicle carrying a police sergeant and two other officers Monday afternoon on the South Side, officials said.

The shooting happened about two blocks from Chicago police headquarters on the South Side where the officers in the police car were headed for an afternoon meeting.

The gunman apparently had no idea uniformed police Sgt. Ed Beltran, his supervisor, and another officer were in the unmarked vehicle as he began firing his gun on the 3400 block of South Indiana Avenue at about 12:50 p.m. Monday, police said.
